"Over the span of the past four years, spanning from 2019 to 2020, I have refrained from watching NBA games. My love for basketball remains unwavering; it's a sport I cherish deeply, a passion that I plan to maintain, whether I continue to play or step away from the court. The reason for my absence from the games was the intense emotional response I experienced; my palms would perspire, my adrenaline would surge, a testament to my competitive spirit. Witnessing a player securing a victory with a 40-point performance would ignite a fire within me, urging a personal challenge: 'I must achieve that, too.' Even when seated at 7 PM, two days prior to my next contest, the anticipation of performing at that level would trigger sweat. The drive to match such achievements became overwhelming. Eventually, I recognized the exhaustion that such intense engagement could bring. Convinced that this level of involvement could lead to burnout, I concluded that it was time to step back from watching basketball, for fear of becoming too absorbed, almost obsessed, with the game."
